Blending poker and rock & roll comes easily to Jim Paris, who owns and runs the Texas Poker Store and blogs for the Texas Poker Store Blog. Recently, he has been spending his spare time contributing to a biography of the late Buddy Miles to be released in the near future.

The Texas Poker Store and the late Buddy Miles have something in common — owner and Chief Dealer, Jim Paris produced them both. Paris has quite a rock & roll past, including producing the legendary Buddy Miles between 1976 and 1981. “It was a wildly creative and totally insane time,” says Paris, “but I wouldn’t trade my experience with Buddy for anything. Not only that, but I played a whole lot of poker with members of the band and crew, especially when we were on long tours, so my rock & roll life helped hone my poker-playing skills and prepared me for the poker tables.”
Recently poker and rock & roll have come together again for Paris. He not only owns and runs the Texas Poker Store and blogs for Texas Poker Store Blog, but he’s been spending most of his spare time these days contributing to a biography of the late Buddy Miles to be released in the near future.
“Going through my old rock and roll journals, photos and tapes have not only stirred up incredible memories that are now being transcribed into a Rock & Roll Biography about Buddy, but I also uncovered some previously unreleased Buddy Miles’ songs,” Paris states. “There’s tremendous excitement about releasing them, as well as re-releasing the last two albums that he and I worked on.”
Paris’ passion for poker and love for rock & roll have been evident in many of his blogs. He’s searched the web for poker-related songs and posted them for his fans on the Texas Poker Store Blog, including Lady GaGa’s Poker Face and the official WSOP 2007 “All In Rap” by Alexander Neal.
“I realize there may be a bunch of poker songs I haven’t heard, so I’m hoping that people will send me their suggestions and links,” Paris adds. “If anyone has a great poker song, we want to hear it.”
In the meantime, Paris isn’t taking any chances. He and Texas Rock and Blues Artist Randy Pavlock have announced their collaboration on a new Texas poker song to be released soon.
