Johnny Manziel and the Aggies came out like streaks of white lighting in the first quarter and scored three TDs with Johnny throwing for all three to build a 21-0 lead, despite the shoulder injury he suffered last week against Auburn. The Commodores roared back with 17 unanswered points in the second quarter, shifting the momentum for a few moments. But a quick pick six to start the second half shifted it right back to the Aggies who never looked back.  It was an excellent showing for the Ag’s much-maligned defense, which sacked Vandy’s freshman quarterback Patton Robinette five times and intercepted him twice. Texas A&M looked like they were on a mission to prove they still have IT and ended the game with an impressive 56-24 W.

Lynn  predicted a score of 41 to 28 Aggies over the Commodores and that was all she needed to win the double set of  World Class Copag Poker Playing Cards. Congratulations, Lynn!

Texas A&M Aggies vs Tennessee Vanderbilt CommodoresAs we head into the Aggie game against Vanderbilt, we”re going to keep it simple. The Ags are coming off a very disappointing 45-41 loss to Auburn, which included an uncalled horse-collar on Johnny that many believe would have changed the outcome. The Commodores beat Georgia and should be coming to Kyle Field high off their win. Despite playing their worst game this season, the Aggies still have one of the best offensive lines in CFB. They will have to be close to perfect this Saturday under two potential scenarios.

The first is that Johnny plays despite his shoulder injury. We all know that JFF is dying to play. He was incredibly tough, and in obvious pain, when he returned to the game last week, so even if he’s hurting, we know he’ll be out there if he gets the okay. If  he plays, his O line will have to give him the protection he deserves on every play; they’ll have to leave it all out there the way he does. If the medics feel that playing could cause further damage to his shoulder, however, then he’ll be sidelined. If Johnny has to sit and Joeckel plays, the line will have to adjust to his style of play and take the pressure off him. They will have to win the line of scrimmage on virtually every play in either case. Either way, expect to see a whole lot of Trey Williams.

Defensively, there’s not much more to say. By now we know that our defense is struggling mightily with too much inexperience out there. We’ve seen spurts of excellent D, but it has only come in spurts and there’s nothing to indicate that this situation will improve by the leaps and bounds we had hoped for. So, we just have to score more points than Vandy scores. We predict that the Aggies will do just that and get back in the Win column. Well, we predicted a close game and we quoted Coach Sumlin who said that Auburn was “very different from the team we played last year.” We just didn’t know how different. We didn’t know that the Auburn Tigers would win on both lines of scrimmage or that the Aggies would score 41 points but turn the ball over twice. We didn’t know that despite a good showing in the second and third quarters, the Aggie defense would be horrible in the first quarter and totally fall apart in the fourth, allowing the Tigers to score touchdowns on four of their final five possessions. But most of all, we couldn’t know that Johnny would injure his throwing shoulder,  and that even though he demonstrated his incredible competitive spirit and returned to the field to play . . . that he’d be stopped.

We’re beginning to think he’s trolling the Texas Poker Store blog, but that’s okay; he still won! Congratulations and come claim your double set of  World Class Copag Poker Playing Cards, Frankie S!
