Victor ‘Isildur1’ BlomTwenty-two is a golden number for Swedish Victor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, and India’s Aditya  ‘donkabomber’ Sushant. In May 2013, the 22-year old Blom won the SCOOP: Spring Championship Of Online Poker’s $10,300 buy-in Main Event for over $1 million. Blom, known to be a relentless high-stakes cash game player, and an aggressive tournament player, like most of his Swedish and Norwegian counterparts, had previously won two SCOOP events in 2012 along with a neat million dollar score at the Pokerstars’ Caribbean Adventure High-Rollers Event.

Aditya "DonkaBomber" SushantIt was a memorable Sunday for India’s Aditya ‘donkabomber’ Sushant, also 22, and my ‘drinking buddy’ on the poker table, who did India proud by taking second place in this week’s Sunday Million. Sushi, who hails from Chennai, the hottest city in India, sweated and survived a field of 6,733 players and pocketed $168,157 for his Sunday toil. Prior to this, fellow Indian poker professionals such as Sangeeth Mohan, Amit Varma, Abhishek Goindi and Sameer Rattonsey, had already been making waves in the Asian and Indian live circuit, and now Sushi joins the fleet of prime achievers from India. When asked who inspired him throughout his poker journey, Sushi, who idolizes Phil Ivey and Victor Blom, said “all successful people who have made it through to the very top of their respective fields through combination of perseverance and talent”, inspire him.

Indeed! Perseverance has paid off for this young pro who also said that his goal for the next year is to not blow his bankroll and keep making money as often as possible. Now that is what I call a radical yet pragmatic goal—keeping it real! Sushi hopes to play the WSOP next year and I am positive he will do well there. We wish him all the very best in a long and successful poker career. Well done, mate!
