Daniel Negreanu’s VlogDaniel Negreanu with Marissa Rachelle (video/blog) is back which means it’s WSOP time again! With Bazanji’s “The Life I Chose” setting the hot hip hop beat for the vlog , @realkidpoker tells his fans he’s ready for action. He’s definitely displaying some high energy as he makes his green smoothie, teases his super-hot girlfriend Marisa, and heads off to the gym to sweat – after four days playing the Super High Roller Bowl at the Aria he says he definitely needs a workout. According to Dnegs, he lost six pounds during the SHR, but it sounds to me like he came out ahead anyway (actually, he came in 2nd and added another $3 million to his bank account).

Negreanu’s Vlogs are fun to watch, and I always look forward to them. His enthusiasm and love of the game are infectious, and his walks through the casino can be highly entertaining as we pick up the Rio atmosphere and try to spot who’s at the different poker tables. Nevertheless, there are times when his high voltage personality can be somewhat grating (like when he spots a very mellow Phil Ivey at the poker table and shines his spotlight on him). Clearly, the attention was not welcome.Daniel Negreanu's Vlog

The engaging parts are when he takes us behind-the-scenes, which during the first three Vlogs included watching him be “Pool Daddy” as he cleaned his swimming pool before his viewing party for the third game of the Stanley Cup Finals (his beloved Vegas Knights are in the finals in their first year!). Daniel knows how to throw a party; his house is perfectly set up for partying and watching sports and he seems so comfortable just hanging out with Marisa, his friends, family, and 20 pizzas, cuddling with his two adorable dogs, and even taking on a buddy to play chess.

But then, after the Knight’s loss (they were down 2-1 as of this writing) he “has to go to work,” which is not a bad gig if you’re a superstar poker player. During breaks in the action, Daniel walks the corridors of the Rio and explains why he is currently down $212,500 K after three days at the tables. So far he’s played in the $2500 Mixed Draw, the $10K Omaha 8 Championship and the $100K NLE High Roller. He’s pretty casual talking about hands he lost, misplayed or just didn’t get the cards and takes us through several of the more interesting ones.  I find it refreshing to hear him be so open when’s not playing well, or when he bluffs or how his mind works against better players vs. unknowns.

He didn’t do anything in the Omaha 8, which happens to be one of his favorite poker variations. Still, Negreanu is ready and eager for more action. As he put it at the end of Vlog 3, “There’s plenty of poker left kids. Don’t get discouraged; I’m not.”
