Thought we’d take a break from the Great Dane’s lessons just to put in our two cents worth regarding the Mayan’s predictions that we were hearing about all last year.
I don’t know about all of you, but I find it almost unbelievable that it’s 2012. Not that 2011 was anything to write home about, but 2012. Already? After all, this is the year that, according to some, may mean the end of life on earth as we know it. . . at least according to the ancient Mayans. Or as we would put it, the last year to party. So we figure, why not go out with a bang (actually maybe that’s what those Mayan Indians had in mind) and have some fun.
I can see it now…I’ve made it to the final table of the 2012 WSOP and I’m playing with the greatest poker legends of all time. I’m holding the ace and king of spades, the flop is the ten and queen of spades along with the ace of hearts. Phil Ivey is sitting on the queen of diamonds and the queen of clubs for trip queens, Doyle Brunson folds. Phil Hellmouth has a pair of aces and bets big on his trip aces, Ivey calls, I call, everyone else folds. The turn is the ten of clubs giving both Phils a full house but it’s a blank for me. Phil H. bets, Phil I. calls, I call. The river is the Jack of spades giving me a Royal Flush, when suddenly there’s a huge explosion and the lights go out. There I am, cursing those damn Mayans as I realize I can’t cash in on the best hand of my life because the world has ended.
I turn over and realize it was just a nightmare, I check my watch and realize I’m late to our weekly poker game.
I’m not a believer that this year is the end of the world, in fact I am playing more and more poker, practicing everything I’ve learned from all the poker books and poker DVDs that I got from the Texas Poker Store and I’m ready to try my luck out at this years WSOP, are you?
