There’s really only one way to jump into poker and that’s to play. You can read poker books for tips and tricks and watch poker games and tournaments on T.V., but if you want to be a poker player, or improve your game, you’ve got to play the game.
So, find some friends who enjoy playing poker and arrange a poker night. All you need to start off with are some inexpensive poker chips – you can buy a 300 poker chips set in an aluminum case for as little as $30 — some poker playing cards and something that will pass as a poker table. Once you get beyond the novice stage, you’re going to need a whole lot more. But for now, just learn by doing.
