It may be a tough pill for dedicated Aggie fans to swallow, but fair is fair and on Wednesday Lucinda Maller predicted that the Alabama Crimson Tide would roll over the Texas A&M Aggies  35
to 28. Coming closest first without going over, she delivered the final blow to us which forced our Chief Dealer to pronounce Maller the winner of the Texas Poker Store “Predict the Score” contest, which means we’ll be shipping out the 300 Chip Big Slick Texas Hold’em 11.5 g Set to her. Congratulations, Lucinda.

It was a tough battle for the Aggies. Kyle Allen was certainly out of sync with his receivers Saturday as he threw a total of three passes that were intercepted and returned for touchdowns. Two of them were picked off by Minkah Fitzpatrick, making him the first player in Alabama history to return two interceptions for touchdowns in a game. Allen threw the first interception on the Aggies’ second drive and Fitzpatrick returned that one for 33 yards. Allen threw his second interception on a high pass that was picked off by Eddie Jackson and returned for 93 yards and, to add insult to injury, he was picked off a third time by Fitzpatrick for a return of 55 yards. And it wasn’t only Allen who was not on point; Kyler Murray was intercepted on the last play of the third quarter which resulted in a field goal.

As coach Sumlin said in his post-game presser, you can’t give a great team like Alabama those kinds of freebies and expect to win. Hopefully for Aggie fans, the team figures out how to fix their normally explosive offense before next week’s game against Ole Miss. 300-chip-set-big-slick

During the Aggies Bye Week we took some time of from football to play a little poker and to personally congratulate our latest winner of our famed “Predict the Score” contests, Mr. Paul Marvin, and delivered his prize to him.Paul Marvin

Now it’s your chance to make your predictions on the upcoming game between the Texas A&M Fighting Aggies and the Alabama Crimson Tide, and to help you out, here are some thoughts:

  1. Kyle Field and the 12th Man – When more than 102,000 fans stay in the game and pump energy into their revitalized defense, as the 12th Man has done this season especially during red zone stands, the home field advantage becomes a huge factor. Aggies love their Chavis-inspired “D” and know how to make about as much noise as any fan base in college football. Bama is never intimidated by a big stage, and they’re certainly highly motivated with their season on the line in every game, but will Coker have the composure to communicate with his o-line when it’s impossible to hear anything over the roar of the crowd? Look for the sound to be deafening, causing a mistake or two and helping the Ags maintain their unrelenting pressure. If the Aggie D is as tough and aggressive as they’ve been, and tighten up their run defense, look out.
  1. Explosive plays – The Crimson Tide is a great football team, but they do better against more conventional offenses. The Aggies will dial up the unconventional and run their usual high-powered attack, forcing the Tide to do more adjusting on defense, including rushing the passer. That means we might see more of the Tide’s pass rushers. With the Ags killing it on play-action, including passes to Kirk, Reynolds and who knows how many others, and the crowd noise making it difficult to make on-the-field adjustments on defense, look for the Aggies to get off to a fast start and keep on going. Alabama will do everything in its power to slow them down by running a lot of plays and keeping Kyle Allen off the field so that he can’t get into his rhythm. But if he does, with all those weapons at his disposal, the Aggies don’t need much time to score.
  1. Turnovers – The Aggies are plus-two in the turnover margin, with their defense causing fumbles, interceptions and mismatches. On the other hand, Alabama football has always been about wearing down their opponents by running the ball, controlling it, and not turning it over. They won’t be able to do that if the Aggies play up tempo; they’ll need to take some risks to score points. If Jake Coker takes some chances and tries to throw long, he can expect to see a lot of Garrett and Hall in his face. If he can throw screens and scramble for some yardage he could cough up the football. Or, he could fool the Aggie defense, which still doesn’t have the depth or experience of the Bama defense, especially in a game they HAVE to win.

If the Aggies can establish the tempo of the game, pick them to win. If the Tide can manage to play ball control and keep giving the ball to Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake, they will be facing a rushing defense that’s still only 12th in the SEC. It’s a tough call, but it’s a game that Texas A&M can win. So, again, this is your chance to make your prediction and this time you too could be named the winner of the Texas Poker Store’s “Predict The Score” contest. So what do you think? Will the Aggies remain undefeated or will the Crimson Tide prevail?300-chip-set-big-slick

In a game that many Aggie fans are probably dreading, the Texas A&M football team travels to Jordan-Hare Stadium to face the #3 Auburn Tigers.  Last week, the Tigers knocked off Ole Miss and are 4-1 in the SEC. The Aggies, on the other hand, coming off a bye week, eeked out an unimpressive win against Louisiana-Monroe, 21-16. It was a W, though, which felt good after a devastating 59-0 beat down by Alabama two weeks before, and bad losses to Mississippi State and Ole Miss in the two prior weeks, making the Ags 3-2 in the SEC.

The Aggies seem to have lost their mojo and have been unraveling before our eyes. It’s not just one problem, either. It’s the flat, predictable offense that doesn’t in any way resemble the up-tempo offenses of Coach Kevin Sumlin or of the Aggies of 2012 and 2013. It’s the bad judgment of Kenny Hill and the inexperience of Kyle Allen. It’s the defense, especially in the secondary. But mostly it’s the toughness, the swag, the belief in themselves and each other that’s missing. So what will it take to turn it around? And does our favorite team have a chance, however slim, of beating Auburn?

300 Poker Chip Set A betting man (or woman) would say absolutely not. So, if you have any sense, you’ll predict a final score that gives Auburn a huge win over the Aggies. But that’s why sports are awesome; miracles can happen. A spark could ignite the fierce competitiveness of the Aggies and it could happen this Saturday. A risk-taker might just go with the Aggies. Be the first to predict the final score of the game, without going over, and you’ll win this 300 Poker Chip Set with an Aluminum Case, 2 decks of playing cards and a poker button set.

It seems that someone must have either kidnapped or stolen the Texas A&M Fighting Aggies Football Team. Perhaps they simply stole their fighting spirit. If you have any information that will lead to the safe return of the current team, the Texas Poker Store will offer you a small, but very nice, deck of cards. If your information leads to the safe return of the Texas A&M Fighting Spirit, then TPS will hail you as a hero and offer you a very large reward. Until then, all we can do is wait for the rebuilding,  the re-motivating and the maturing to begin.
