It’s hard to keep our attention on the World Series of Poker while the World Cup is on, but for now, here are the latest happenings from the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

John HenniganJohn Hennigan wins Event #46: the $50,000 Poker Players Championship after defeating over 100 of the world’s best players. Hennigan not only takes home $1,517,767 but also a WSOP gold bracelet, and the prestige of etching his name on the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy.

Jesse McEuenJesse McEuen wins Event#47 – $1,500 Ante-Only No-Limit Hold’em. McEuen ran over a field of 714 players to get to his first-ever final table then, with pocket-aces, took down Jonas Lauck heads-up to take home a very sweet  $212,093 and his first gold bracelet.

Tyler PattersonTyler Patterson wins Event #48 –  $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low. It was a long 6 1/2 hour heads-up battle against two-time WSOP champion Scott Clements but Patterson held on and denied Clements his third bracelet . Finally he can walk proudly with his first brand new gold bracelet and $270,992 in his pocket.

Miscikowski SzecsiEvent #49 is still playing and it’s down to heads-up between David Miscikowski and Norbert Szecsi. In the meantime we have our old favorite, Phil IveyPhil Ivey, taking home his 10th bracelet in Event #50: $1,500 Eight-Game Mix and adds $167,332 to his bankroll.

 

 

Brazil vs ChileAnd now, Saturday the 28th of June, we have to go watch the latest happenings from Estadio Mineirao, Belo Horizonte in Brazil. It is Brazil 1 – Chile 1 – and going into the 30-minute overtime. Who’s your favorite?
