The Aggies had a much-needed “W “and so did Buddy, who won our Predict the Score contest with his prediction of 35-21. The Aggies had some impressive offensive stats, including rushing for more than 300 yards, the first time that’s happened since beating OU in the 2013 Cotton Bowl. And Kyler Murray had a beautiful debut as the Ags’ starting QB, staying poised, protecting the rock, hitting his receivers with some beautiful touch throws and rushing for more than 100 yards – as did Tra Carson; that’s two-100 yard rushers in a game!

Yes, we KNOW. Beating South Carolina is NOT the same as beating Bama or Ole Miss. And the defense still had trouble stopping the run. But Donovan Wilson had two picks, including one for a TD, the A&M safeties continued to impress, Dae Dae and Myles were their dominant selves and the defense has not stopped playing tough.

We predicted a win by the Ags in our last blog, but even we didn’t anticipate the lopsided score or the overwhelming dominance – on offense and defense — that the Texas A&M football team would display at the Cotton Bowl. Johnny Football lived up to all the hype and more, as he erased any doubts about why he won the Heisman and obliterated the theories that there would be a Heisman letdown after the banquet circuit. In fact, he set an FBS bowl record with 229 yards rushing and 267 yards passing, becoming the 4th player in FBS history with 20 passing and 20 rushing touchdowns in a season. And he has three more years to be our quarterback!

It was an awesome night to be an Aggie fan. We at the Texas Poker Store want to thank Aggie Athletics, Aggie Football, Coach Sumlin and his entire staff for an incredible year. For us poker players, it’s time to get back to the poker tables. But we do it as we sadly say goodbye to our outstanding seniors and eagerly await the 2013 football season. And next year, let’s hope we get our shot at the national title we should have gotten this year!

We don’t know about you, but we can’t WAIT for the Cotton Bowl this Friday night at 7 p.m. Seems like forever since we’ve watched Johnny Football and the Texas A&M Aggies take the field, so tomorrow night, playing against the Oklahoma Sooners at JerryWorld will be a real treat. Some might fear an upset, like the drubbing that happened to University of Florida in the Orange Bowl, or a huge letdown because of all the distractions faced by the Aggies; after all,  it’s tough winning a Heisman Trophy and making all those appearances on national TV!

But we don’t think so. Sources tell us that Manziel has been practicing hard and throwing better than ever, and that he’s super-motivated to take the Aggies to 11 wins. The seniors are eager to face OU again and to prove once and for all that they’re the better team. The team and coaches know that OU has a balanced offense and a great quarterback in Landry Jones, but it’s going to be difficult to stop our explosive spread offense and hard to score against our extremely tough defense. And everyone on the team wants to build momentum for 2013 and go out on a huge win. So, we’re picking the SEC over the Big 12, and putting all our poker chips on a W for the Aggies. The odds are in our favor for an 11-2 season and the perfect ending to an incredible season of Aggie football.
