There’s only a couple of things we know for sure going into the Texas A&M vs. South Carolina football game this Saturday. The first is that all eyes will be on the quarterback, whoever he is. After the abysmal showing by Kyle Allen (and the entire offense) against Ole Miss last week, Coach Kevin Sumlin announced that Kyle Allen, Kyler Murray and Jake Hubenak, his three scholarship QBs, would be competing for the start against the Gamecocks. Whoever gets the nod will be revealed on Friday.

The second thing we know is that the forecast is for wet and rainy conditions, which means the Aggie offense will be simplified, which also means we might not learn as much as we’d like about changes in the Aggie offense. We also might, or might not learn as much about the Aggies as we’d like, since playing South Carolina is not the same as playing Ole Miss or Alabama. This was supposedly an easy win back when everything was coming up roses. In other words, if we win it, it still doesn’t tell us that much. On the other hand, if the Ags struggle or lose, we’ll know all we need to know.

Copag Poker CardsLast week no one won our “Predict the Score” contest, even though several of you did predict that Ole Miss would win, everyone of y’all went over. It’s “Predict the Score” time again as the Texas A&M Aggies take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in Dallas at 2:30 CST this coming Saturday. After blowing through their opener against the Gamecocks in South Carolina, thereby shocking the football world, and then rolling over and through Lamar, Rice and SMU, as Billy Liucci of TexAgs recently wrote, “Let the (real) games begin (again).

The Aggies, who have been amazingly good (as in ranked 6th) will now be thoroughly tested by facing Arkansas, #14 Mississippi State in Starkville, #10 Ole Miss at Kyle and finally traveling to #2 Alabama in what many call the toughest 4-game stretch in program history.Texas A&M Aggies vs Arkansas Razorbacks

The Razorbacks are not the same team as they were last season, in case you haven’t been paying attention. They own an SEC-leading rushing attack, with Alex Collins, Jonathan Williams and Korliss Marshall combining for 188 yards on 36 carries. Their QB, Brandon Allen threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. In other words, Arkansas is playing tough, explosive and mad, and the Aggies need to forget about their own 4-0 start and play like they have something to prove.

The Aggies have all the talent in the world, especially on offense. It’s certainly enough to beat the Razorbacks; there’s no doubt about that. But does their much-improved defense have the strength and determination to stop the Hogs’ rushing attack? We’ll see very soon.

Texas A&M WOW! is all we can say about the Texas A&M win over South Carolina, beating the Gamecocks 52- 28. Outstanding, beyond belief  performance by the Aggies on defense, offense and special teams.  Kenny Hill was phenomenal and hit at least ten different receivers to obliterate the Gamecocks in their own house, something that has not been done for the last 18 of their home games.

Copag Poker CardsAnd we have a winner too. T-Licious came the closest to predicting the final score when he predicted 45-42 Ags. No one else even came close to him. Much the same as South Carolina not even coming close to touching the Texas A&M Fighting Aggies. T-licious wins the professional set of Copag Peek-Index Poker Cards.  Congratulations Mr. T-Licious! Your poker cards are on their way.

This is gonna be one helluva football season!!

The excitement /anxiety at the Texas Poker Store (and in our house) is mounting as we get closer and closer to the start of the Texas A&M football season. The Aggies kick it off tomorrow night at 5 p.m. (CST), on the SEC Network, against #9 South Carolina in Columbia. And, according to Las Vegas, the Gamecocks are 10 ½ point favorites!

Set of Copag Poker cardsIf we were betting with cash, we’d take the points and go with the Aggies. Instead, we’re going to launch our annual “Predict the Score” contest that we hold for all conference games. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the final score will win a professional set of Copag Peek-Index Poker Cards including a durable, solid carrying case. If there’s a tie, whoever made the correct prediction first is the winner, so you don’t have much time to fool around.

In our opinion, most of the pundits seem to be too focused on who we lost (mainly Manziel, Mike Evans and Jake Matthews) as well as the memory of how awful our defense was last year. We prefer to think positively. Not only do we think our offense is loaded with major weapons at WR, such as Ricky Seals-Jones, Speedy Noils, Cam Clear, Malcom Kennedy and more, but we have running backs with talent and experience and an O-Line that should match up well against any opponent. Unfortunately, this is a very tough match-up for the first game of the season, especially playing in a hostile environment. Same thing for the defense. We are confident that improvements have been made at every position, but will it all come together in the first game?

What do you think? Will the Aggies surprise everyone and catapult themselves into a top ten team after their first road game? Or will the pundits be right, with the Ags taking a two-score beating as predicted? Predict the score now for your chance to be the first Texas Poker Store winner of the 2014-15 football season!
