This has been an extremely exciting series and although it still has a couple of unfinished events, it has already demonstrated to us and the world that poker remains a very serious game that attracts thousands and thousands of players and spectators to Las Vegas every year. The question is; will you try your luck and test your skills at the 50th WSOP next year?
Event #65: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em MAIN EVENT – World Championship WOW!!! is all we can say about this year’s WSOP Main Event. It was a hard fought battle with over 7,800 poker warriors, but in the end only two would be left standing: Tony Miles and John Cynn.
After a phenomenal back-and-forth, lead-changing 10 hours of heads-up poker, (the longest battle in heads-up history at the WSOP Main Event) the end came in Hand #442. John Cynn had K-J while Miles held a Q-8. John Cynn made it 9 million from the button and Tony Miles re-raised to 34 million from the big blind. Cynn called and KK
flopped. Miles bet 32 million. Cynn called, bringing an 8
turn. Miles jammed for 114 million. Cynn tanked over a minute and called with his K
J
for trips. Miles turned over his Q
8
and was drawing dead.
The meaningless river was the 4 and the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event finally ended with John Cynn as the new world champion, taking away the 8.8 Million Dollar payday.
