I can’t think of a better day than the one we have planned for tomorrow. Friends of ours invited us over for the perfect trifecta: Texas Hold ’em, barbecuing, and watching Johnny Manziel make his first start for the Cleveland Browns. Since we’re all Aggie football fans, we’ve really missed the excitement of watching JFF play. As hard as it was losing Johnny to the NFL draft, it’s been even harder watching him sit on the bench while Hoyer has led the Browns. Finally, when head coach Pettine could no longer rationalize continuing to go with Hoyer, he made the decision to start Manziel. Which means a whole lot of football fans who normally couldn’t care less about the Cleveland vs. Bengals game, will be laser-focused on the Browns at 12 noon CST tomorrow.

SPocket Bullets Paris on a hot run at the WSOP o, if things go ideally, Johnny will play lights out, the barbecue will be done to perfection, I’ll be on a hot run at the poker table and we’ll all enjoy the day. If we could only have one out of three, however, I’m pretty sure this group is hoping for a great day for Johnny Football and the beginning of a new era for the Cleveland Browns.

There are very few people that impress us with what they are capable of. Johnny Manziel has impressed us with his incredible athletic abilities on the gridiron. Paul McCartney continues to amaze us with his musical brilliance and his continuing endurance under the bright lights of any stage. Rafael Nadal has blown our minds in all of his thirteen Grand Slam wins.

And in our world of poker, “Dolly” Doyle Brunson, Amarillo Slim, Stu Ungar among many others, have all been an overwhelming inspiration holding our attention on poker all these many years. Phil ‘The Brat” Hellmut, with his 13 WSOP championship bracelets, has been one of our all-time favorites at the poker tables. Daniel “The Kid” Negreanu with his six WSOP bracelets, has awed us on more than one occasion. Daniel Negreanu at 2014 WSOP

But time moves on and favorites are bound to eventually fall. We’ve already told you about the dramatic loss endured by Phil Hellmuth, and now we have the latest loss, suffered yesterday by Negreanu when Paul Volpe took away his chances for a seventh bracelet by defeating him in Event #13: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship.

Paul Volte takes bracelet and title away from Daniel NegreanuThis was Volpe’s first bracelet, first WSOP final table. He walked away with $253,524 while Negreanu can still smile while adding another $156,674 to his poker winnings.

This is an historic day in Aggieland for fans of the Texas A&M football team. It’s the last home game in what will forevermore be known as the “old Kyle Field.” As soon as the game ends, the grass is scheduled to be removed from the field and the real construction will begin on the $450 million stadium – what is being touted as the most ambitious stadium renovation and expansion in all of college football. It is also, with 99 percent certainty, the last opportunity to see the phenomenal Johnny Manziel play at home, as well as the last time for WR sensation Mike Evans and the incomparable Jake Matthews . . . all of whom will next be seen playing for the NFL . It’s a bittersweet day; the faithful so filled with gratitude at being part of this remarkable two years and sad to see it coming to an end.

It’s also a game that could be a good predictor of how the final two games of the season will play out. Will the Aggie defense continue to show the improvement that encouraged Aggie fans against their last two opponents? Or, when faced with a far better MSU team, will the improvements prove to be more perception than reality? We’re hoping that the D continues to fly to the ball, cover their gaps, complete their tackles, rush the passer and create some mayhem for the Bulldog’s offense. We’re hoping for more turnovers and interceptions. And, we’re hoping that JFF and his explosive offense go out with a bang at Kyle Field.

MSU vs Texas A&MWe have recorded all your predictions and wish y’all the best of luck. We’re right there with most of you; we’ve put away the poker tables for the day and we’re on our way to join the 12th Man and root for our Fighting Texas A&M Aggies to BTHOmsu!

Johnny Manziel and the Aggies came out like streaks of white lighting in the first quarter and scored three TDs with Johnny throwing for all three to build a 21-0 lead, despite the shoulder injury he suffered last week against Auburn. The Commodores roared back with 17 unanswered points in the second quarter, shifting the momentum for a few moments. But a quick pick six to start the second half shifted it right back to the Aggies who never looked back.  It was an excellent showing for the Ag’s much-maligned defense, which sacked Vandy’s freshman quarterback Patton Robinette five times and intercepted him twice. Texas A&M looked like they were on a mission to prove they still have IT and ended the game with an impressive 56-24 W.
