The 47th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) started on schedule at their usual location, the world renowned Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Pocket Bullets Paris at 2015 WSOPAction started May 31, 2016 with Live Action in the Green Section of the Pavilion room, Single Table Satellites, and Daily Deep Stacks then immediately followed on June 1 with Mega Satellites and the official beginning of Event #1: $565 Casino Employees’ No-Limit Hold’em.

June 2 brought back Event #2A: $565 Colossus II No-Limit Hold’em with a total of six starting flights with a sweet million dollars guaranteed to the winner and a guaranteed prize pool of $7 million. And the Colossus will continue through to Flights #2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, and culminate with Flight #2F on Saturday, June 4.

But not to get ahead of myself, for now I will just tell you that this year’s World Series of Poker promises to be as exciting as last years, if not more. After all, this year features a total of 69 events with buy-ins as low as $565 and all the way up to $111,111.

According to a tweet by Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) “You guys will LOVE the changes and how they affect play in the tourneys. Way more play when it matters most in the middle and late stages.”

As always, there will be lots of money, and gold bracelets won during a total of 50 consecutive days of poker action. And the Main Event will ultimately get down to the Final 9 players who will return October 30 and battle it out for the highly coveted World Series of Poker Championship Bracelet.

Hope to see ya’ll there at the Final Table.

Pocket Bullets ParisWOW…. It’s hard to believe how fast the time has flown by since last year’s Final Table of the 45th annual World Series Of Poker (WSOP) and the celebration of Martin Jacobson winning it all and  taking home $10 million. Now here it is 2015 and the 46th annual WSOP is almost here. It’s time to Rock and Roll, and the WSOP will officially put cards in the air, Wednesday, May 27, 2015, with nearly $200 million in prize money up for grabs. As always, there will be several new events and changes that are designed to provide more excitement.

The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has once again geared up and is ready to host poker’s most popular and prestigious festival from May 27 to July 14, 2015 when, as usual, the November Nine will emerge and prepare to do battle at the final table in November.

One of the new events that we are anxious to see will be on May 29 when the WSOP debuts the “Colossus” $565 buy-in with an outstanding $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Wow!

New Events: This year, eleven exciting new events will debut. They are:

  1. May 29-30: Event #5 – $565 Colossus No-Limit Hold’em with a $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
  2. May 31: Event #6 – $1,000 Hyper No-Limit Hold’em with a fast, two-day structure.
  3. June 20: Event #42 – $1,500 Extended Play No-Limit Hold’em featuring longer, 90-minute levels.
  4. June 21: Event #43 – $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em. Must be age 65+ to enter.
  5. June 26: Event #53 – $5,000 Turbo No-Limit Hold’em, two-day structure with a high buy-in.
  6. June 27: Event #55 – $1,500 DraftKings 50/50 No-Limit Hold’em. Half the field to be paid.
  7. June 29: Event #60 – $25,000 High Roller 8-handed Pot-Limit Omaha. 4-day event.
  8. July 1: Event #62 – $1,500 Bounty No-Limit Hold’em. Every player is a bounty. Each is worth $500.
  9. July 3: Event #65 – $777 Lucky 7’s No-Limit Hold’em, featuring a first-ever $777 price point.
  10. July 3: Event #67 – $10,000 Dealers Choice, featuring 19 variants – the most ever played in a single WSOP event.

I don’t know about you, but to me those are enough reasons to book my flight to Vegas immediately. But if you can’t make it to the Rio, you can still participate in this year’s World Series of Poker. For the first time ever this year there is an 11th new bracelet event, Event #64, that you can participate in right from the comfort of your home (the only catch is that you reside somewhere in Nevada). The online real-money poker home of the WSOP announced their first-ever online bracelet event to be held on July 2 at 12 noon. This will be a $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event and it will award the first-ever online WSOP gold bracelet. For all preliminary details click here.

In less than two months the World Series Of Poker returns to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, starting with Event #1: The Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em and running through 66 Events before reaching Event #68 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event.

The action  starts May 27th. The questions is, what are you doing to get ready, to improve, to psyche yourself out and go for it this time? Have you practiced, practiced practiced? … Have you studied what the pros do? Have you read any instructional books or watched any videos? If not, maybe you should pick up some advice from the Mike Caro’s Poker University section of our website. Mike Caro is regarded as one of the world’s foremost authorities on poker strategy, psychology, and statistics. His books and videos could be just what you need to get some great pointers for this year’s WSOP.

This could be your year; you can start for as little as $565 buy-in into the Colossus with a $5 million guaranteed on May 29th. As the WSOP’s own promos claim; “A thousand reasons to play – Millions of dollars to win.”
