Someone recently asked if I ever played poker while touring the world in my past Rock & Roll history, so I decided to re-post the following. Check it out!

…In the past I have written about rock and roll and alluded to my personal rock ‘n roll past. I wrote about contributing to the Buddy Miles biography in a press release that you can read here, and I have written about how, when we were touring, we often played poker to kill time while cruising in our “Stretched out Silver Eagle” going from one gig to the next. I’ve even written a few poker lyrics  that ended up in a collaboration between my wife, myself and the incredibly talented Randy Pavlock. That collaboration ended up with the Texas Poker Store producing the music video of “I May Be Bluffin.”

Recently, a friend sent me this pic of Buddy Miles actually trying to read my poker face, and if memory serves me correctly, he was holding a pair of cowboys that were no match for my trip queens. Buddy was always  much better at playing drums than playing Poker!

A new poker song, “I May Be Bluffin’ ” , written by Randy Pavlock, Texas Rock and Blues Artist, and yours truly is now in production with Pavlock’s band, Twenty Four Seven. My wife and I came up with the idea to create a new poker song and when we were trying to figure out who to team up with to write, play and produce it, we both immediately came up with Pavlock. After all, Pavlock had toured with the legendary Buddy Miles and I had produced Miles, and we’ve become good friends ever since we met at Buddy’s memorial. So indeed, he was the perfect choice.

Randy Pavlock and Buddy MilesPavlock recruited his band Twenty Four Seven and they are now in the studio laying down drums, bass, rhythm and lead guitar and, to sweeten it up, some hot keyboards. “I May Be Bluffin'” should be ready for release in a few weeks, after which we’ll follow it up with an awesome music video. We’ve got the perfect location for the shoot!

It was a lot of fun, and I’m glad I stepped away from the poker tables long enough to produce this Texas poker song.
