After battling it down from a field of 6,598 the best of the best claimed their seats at the final table and forever will be known as the “October Nine” of  the 2012 World Series of Poker. But, who will rise to the occasion, defeat eight of his opponents and snatch away the most coveted title of all: The WSOP Main Event Champion along with the gold and diamond bracelet and this year’s prize payout of $8,527,982.

This year’s Final Nine are:

Seat 2: Jacob Balsiger – Tempe, AZ (13,115,000 in chips)
Seat 3: Jeremy Ausmus – Las Vegas, NV (9,805,000 in chips)
Seat 4: Steven Gee – Sacramento, CA (16,860,000 in chips)
Seat 5: Greg Merson – Laurel, MD (28,725,000 in chips)
Seat 6: Jesse Sylvia – West Tisbury, MA (43,875,000 in chips)
Seat 7: Robert Salaburu – San Antonio, TX (15,155,000 in chips)
Seat 8: Andras Koroknai – Debrecen, Hungary (29,375,000 in chips)
Seat 9: Michael Esposito – Seaford, NY (16,260,000 in chips)

These guys are basking in the biggest limelight of their lives. We’re sure they will be partying big time all summer while anxiously waiting for the final table in October. They then will meet again and try to outplay each other. Each will have their own strategies on how to rake in all the poker chips  and be declared the 2012 Main Event WSOP Champion.

Day 5  of the 2012 WSOP Main Event finished with the chip lead bouncing around like a super ball and the day ended with these current top nine chip leaders:

Kyle Keranen – 6,935,000, Robert Salaburu – 6,195,00, Taylor Paur – 5,820,000, Erik Hellman – 4,715,00, Wilfried Haerig – 4,505,000, Shahriar Assareh – 4,395,000, Charles Coultas – 4,015,000, Gaelle Baumann – 3,980,000, and Fabrizio Gonzalez – 3,935,000. Without a doubt these names will change during the course of Day 6 and Day 7, but who do you want to see still alive at the end and sitting at the Final Table?

There are a total of 97 very qualified contenders left to battle it out for the FINAL NINE, (the Niners) and although everyone of them is now guaranteed at least $62,000 you can bet they all have their eye on the final table . Who will be at that final table in October?
