The Aggies had a much-needed “W “and so did Buddy, who won our Predict the Score contest with his prediction of 35-21. The Aggies had some impressive offensive stats, including rushing for more than 300 yards, the first time that’s happened since beating OU in the 2013 Cotton Bowl. And Kyler Murray had a beautiful debut as the Ags’ starting QB, staying poised, protecting the rock, hitting his receivers with some beautiful touch throws and rushing for more than 100 yards – as did Tra Carson; that’s two-100 yard rushers in a game!

Yes, we KNOW. Beating South Carolina is NOT the same as beating Bama or Ole Miss. And the defense still had trouble stopping the run. But Donovan Wilson had two picks, including one for a TD, the A&M safeties continued to impress, Dae Dae and Myles were their dominant selves and the defense has not stopped playing tough.

No one won our Predict the Score contest this week. Several did bet on Ole Miss, but they went over. When we posted our Predict the Score blog a couple of days ago, we wrote; “That’s a lot of talent competing for a game they both need to win. It will be a high-scoring contest, but if the Aggies are for real, this is when they prove it.” So we were right about both teams needing to win. And we were right about the talent on the field. We, and most of the pundits, however, were wrong about predicting a lot of scoring by both offenses, because the high-powered offense of the Aggies simply disappeared.

By game’s end, Kyle Allen was trending nationally on Twitter, not in a good way, and Texas A&M had fallen out of the top 25, leaving just about everyone with emotions ranging from curious to furious. So although Ole Miss won the game and obviously proved that they are “for real,” the Aggies need to figure out who they are and what’s going on with their offense, especially at quarterback, but also with their offensive line, receivers, running game and most definitely with their play-calling, coaching staff and decision-making . . .  all the way to the top . With  almost an embarrassment of riches on the Aggie roster, no Aggie fan should have to feel embarrassed.

Texas Poker StoreThe Texas Poker Store staff  hopes the Aggies get it together in time to face the South Carolina Gamecocks next Saturday at Kyle Field. We’ll post our next “Predict the Score” blog in the next few days, so keep tuned in and may the best predictor win.

You all know that our two favorite pastimes are poker and football, specifically college football, more specifically SEC football. Occasionally the two activities conflict, as was the case last Thursday night when the Texas A&M Aggies battled with the South Carolina Gamecocks. We had a tournament scheduled for that night, but the beat down we were putting on the Gamecocks was so exhilarating that we could barely pay attention to our poker game. I simply had to excuse myself from the poker table before I lost the deed to our house. I needed to focus on what Kenny Hill and the offensive weapons he had at his disposal were doing to the 10 ½ point favorites in their own house.

Hopefully our next poker tournament won’t conflict with our beloved Aggies and perhaps I can recoup my losses from last Thursday.

We had a whirlwind vacation in sunny Southern California for the last week and now we are ready to hit the tables with refreshed vigor.  Although we didn’t have a chance to play while in Cali, that doesn’t mean we were completely out of touch. We still took care of all our Texas Poker Store customers and even were able to sneak in a few poker conversations with some of our friends while sucking in the fresh pacific coast air, laying on the beach, and absorbing the sun’s rays.

Hopefully y’all followed the humble advice we left you with, and played well, were patient and waited for it before pushing your poker chips all in. Now that we’re back we will be bringing you more poker info, news, and tidbits, as well as focusing some attention, as we do every year around this time, on Texas A&M Football. First game up for the Aggies is this Thursday night against the South Carolina Gamecocks, so stay tuned!
