The fact that LSU dominated the Aggies in every aspect of the game played on Thanksgiving, and the fact that the Aggies looked pretty bad for most of the game (couldn’t get any offense going, couldn’t stop the Tigers from plowing through them on the same three or four running plays) didn’t make it any easier to actually have an opportunity to win the game in the final minutes (when things were finally gelling) only to have a bad call by the refs decide the outcome. Hopefully, Kyler Murray remains committed to Texas A&M, along with some of the other big name recruits we’re counting on for next season, because this team never really got it together. Neither Kenny Hill nor Kyle Allen has been the spark that was needed, that guy who can put the team on his back and will it to win, proving how very much we missed “Johnny.”

We don’t know yet which bowl we’ll be playing in with our 7-5 regular season record or what team we’ll be battling. We DO know that it will be played without DC Mark Snyder, who was “relieved of his duties” following the game; it’s a pretty safe bet that his bags were already packed.

I-may-be-bluffin-girlsWe also know that we had a winner at The Texas Poker Store. We had an incredibly close prediction by Richard Marks, who chose LSU over the Aggies by a score of 28-17. Not only did he come away with the 300 Poker Chip Set, but we think he should be a regular at the poker tables; he’s definitely a winner!

It’s hard to believe, but tomorrow, on Thanksgiving, the Aggies will be playing in their last conference game of the season. It was a difficult season, too, with so many ups and downs, so many great expectations and so many disappointments along the way. What we know is that we have some amazing young talent on the squad and that the future of this football team looks incredibly promising. But what about the immediate future? What about Thanksgiving night, in front of a national audience, at Kyle Field?

Had things gone slightly differently in a few of our games (okay, maybe very differently) this game could have meant something else; it could have been HUGE. But it still means a whole lot to Aggie fans. It could mean going out on a high rather than with the bitter taste of that heart-breaking loss against Mizzou (played without five of our best defensive players, btw) as our last regular season memory. The possibility of a better bowl game and a far more respectable record will be on the line. But most importantly, it would mean that we finally figured out how to beat LSU, a team that has had our number the last two years of SEC play. That’s because LSU plays that old-style, pound the ball, ram it down your throats running game and stops their opponents from scoring with their big, strong, powerful defense. We do NOT match up well.

a-n-m-lsuYet hope springs eternal in the hearts of college football fans, especially the ones in maroon and white. We have the talented freshman quarterback, Kyle Allen, getting better every day, who can sling that ball to an array of great receivers, from Speedy Noil to Josh Reynolds to  senior Malcome Kennedy to RSJ. Those guys have proven they can be play makers; they will have to be against LSU’s deep and physical secondary, fifth best in the country against the pass. If Allen has the time, which he might since LSU has not been putting much pressure on quarterbacks this year, it will be up to the receivers to battle it out with the safeties and corners in the backfield.

So, some questions are: will our defense be able to stop the the Tigers’ running game? Will they be able to hold their own in the trenches where LSU dominates or against their bruising running backs and 295-pound tight end, Dillon Gordon? Will the Aggies be able to get any kind of a running game going so that every down doesn’t become a predictable passing play? Will Myles Garrett be the kind of impact player he has been before his concussion and that we need him to be on Thanksgiving? Will the entire Aggie football team be able to hang with the physically abusive team from LSU or will they get over-powered a third time?

If the Aggies stay focused, physical and intense, if they want this win more than the Tigers do, if they want this win for their seniors, they can win this game. And that would be a helluva good reason to give thanks.Poker Chip set from the Texas Poker Store

The stage is set: a night game at Kyle Field, with temperatures in the 40s. Missouri is playing for a chance to win the SEC East. Texas A&M is playing to outscore the Tigers and take the next step in an impressive turnaround that saw them beating then No. 3 Auburn last week and knocking them out of the national championship conversation. This Saturday they can be spoilers again and ruin the Tiger’s chances of winning the SEC. They can end this season on an unbelievable high that seemed unattainable just a few weeks ago.

Will the Aggies make it two in a row behind Kyle Allen’s cannon arm, Spavital’s play calling and McKinney’s revitalized offensive line? Will the backfield produce as many or more yards as they did last week (combined 181)? Will Myles Garrett be as dominant as ever (with maybe a few more holding calls made by the refs)? Will the linebackers continue to improve? What about Malcolme – will he be as clutch as ever? Most importantly, will the Aggie excitement and intensity carry over to Saturday night?

It’s your last chance to get your predictions in for the final score in the Aggies vs. Mizzou football game at Kyle Field Saturday night at 6 p.m. Some think the #9 Aggies will have an easy time with the unranked, somewhat banged up Tigers. Others are worried about the extra pressure on the Ags, especially the offense, to ensure the Heisman for Johnny Football, to have a 10-game season and to be in the BCS bowl conversation. Those fans are afraid it might make the Aggies press too hard.

We think the Ags are so well coached that they’ll just play their game and handle the pressure beautifully, having a great “senior night” and an impressive win. What do you think? Predict the score and whoever comes closest to the final score will get a nice little present from the Texas Poker Store in time for your next poker game. We are offering a double set of  World Class Copag Playing Cards. That is two complete decks of durable professional high quality poker-size plastic-coated cards. You could be the winner this time.
