For any of you who have played poker non-stop through the course of the night and into the wee hours of the morning, this news flash from our favorite poker news source, “PokerNews” itself,  should bring a smile unto your weary, tired, sleepy grinder brains.

Chad Holloway, a 2013 World Series of Poker Bracelet winner, who also happens to be the Managing Editor of PokerNews, has taken his passion for poker, his passion for zombies and his passion for comic books and created the ultimate Zombie Poker Adventure: World Series of ZombiesThe World Series of Zombies (WSOZ). In this bizarre world of Holloway’s, he features some of poker’s greatest names including Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Vanessa Selbst, Antonio Esfandiari, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, and Phil Laak.

Personally, I think this is bound to become a classic collectors’ item and I will be picking up our copy at the Rio in Vegas very soon. In the meantime, for all the details just go to the PokerNews website and check it out for yourselves.

Next time you’re grinding at the tables all night remember; there are Poker Zombies walking amongst you.

I just watched the first-ever all-female poker game for television, a 25-50 no limit holdem cash game presented by Poker Night in America. This was streamed live from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. on December 2nd, but with all the holiday preparations I couldn’t watch the live show. However, I got my chance to catch the action last night when CBS Sports Network aired the first episode.

Ladies only Poker at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood FloridaThe first episode featured Danielle Andersen, Natasha Barbour, Lauren Billings, Jessica Dawley, Ebony Kenney, Jamie Kerstetter, Lily Kiletto, Doctor Jaclynn Moskow, and Vanessa Selbst and by the end of the episode all original nine players still remained. That left me with the opinion that the women were simply not as aggressive as their male counterparts, at least not last night. I didn’t see anyone splashing their poker chips and, in fact, only saw one All-In shove when Billings went up against Kiletto and was snap called. So Billings appeared to be the most aggressive, followed closely by Kerstetter and Selbst. It certainly is a whole lot different than when the boys play; they’re far more likely to beat you down with insults to try throwing you off your game. Of course, I’d need to see a lot more to be sure.

I don’t really have a grasp on the game thus far. Nevertheless, my chips are on Selbst to take it all. Hopefully, we’ll see more and won’t miss the broadcast of the final table. If we do then we’ll have to settle on looking back at all the reports. If you already know the results please don’t tell us . . . no spoiler alerts!

Phil Hellmuth at 2014 WSOPPhil Hellmuth is holding strong in Event#7: Seven Card Razz. The battle started at 2:30 pm PST and we’re sure it will be one for the books no matter what happens. This, after all, marks Hellmuth’s 50th final WSOP table, which is a remarkable feat all on its own, but it is also his 101st cash and could possibly bring him his 14th WSOP bracelet.

Vanessa Selbst at 2014 WSOPVanessa Selbst certainly did not disappoint her rail. She won her third bracelet in Event #2: $25,000 Mixed-Max No-Limit Hold’em. Takes home a nice little paycheck of $871,148, but more importantly, the 29-year-old poker pro has now written her name in stone  for the history books of the WSOP.  If there was ever any doubt, she now has the distinct status as one of the best in the game today. She won her third bracelet in one of the toughest fields by squashing Jason Mo in a very long heads-up battle that took four days of poker action against 130 of the toughest players the game has to offer. Mo ends up with 2nd place and $538,308

Now we’re waiting for all the next events to see who will walk away with titles and bracelets as the energy builds towards the main event in July. We are still undecided about who we believe will be at the Final Nine. However we did state that we liked how Vanessa Selbst has been playing and she has already shown to be on top of her game by running over 129 entries to go heads up with Jason Mo in Event #2 $25k Mixed Max NL Hold’em. As of this writing, they were still battling after 60 hands played. Go Vanessa!

This year’s excitement has already started building and we can’t wait till we get there to see the live action play down to the Final Nine. We wish everyone the best of luck! 65 of y’all will walk out with a nice shiny new bracelet!
